Welcome to Paka River Camp (PRC)!

Conceived in 1994, years of hard work and planning was put in to make it a realisation of every adventurer's dream. This is its story...

Originally a 27 acre rubber plantation, it survived the Second World War and the Communist Insurgency of the early 1950's. It has remained in the family possession up till this day.

Father was a member of the British Field Forces fighting communist insurgents. He narrated numerous stories of his missions to root out communist agents and sympathizers in the area. There were tales of mysterious disappearances of rubber tappers on the land, tiger attacks and the strange apparitions sighted there. These stories sparked my interest in the outdoors and fueled my yearings for Adventure.

Setting foot on this rugged land in 1994, I was immediately entranced by its wilderness and isolation. Most of my holidays were spent exploring the region with my sons Marcius and Marvin. We repeatedly returned to trek the jungle and kayak the many rivers.

My obsession made me covet this land, which I acquired in 1996. The land was surveyed, cleared and transformed into a tropical fruit orchard; carefully preserving its natural terrain in line with my vision of sharing the land with nature lovers and adventurers.

Progressive construction of camp facilities commenced in 2002. Eventually these included natural obstacle courses, a longhouse, fully covered dining areas and field kitchen facilities. Nearby disused quarries were surveyed for rock climbing and abseiling.

Paka River at the edge of the land gives the camp its name. Paka River Camp is the start and end point of kayaking expeditions. It also acts as base camp to facilitate activities into the wild hinterland. Magnificent waterfalls cascade down the mountains feeding the many rivers. White sandy beaches stretch for miles along the coast and Tenggol Island provide varied alternatives for the sun lovers and scuba divers to explore. The rich flora and fauna will impress and surprise even the fussiest nature lovers.

With this, I invite all eco travelers, outdoor adventurers and nature lovers to share with me this beautiful land and the Paka River Camp experience.
